Secret treasure of the Tablelands for an awesome weekend getaway

We had a ‘mad hair’ weekend and decided it was high time to re-explore some the treaures of Atherton Tablelands within 30 minutes of The Long Weekend Retreat. As luck would have it is was a special weekend with loads happening. We chose to check in on the once a year Pioneer Weekend at the Historic Herberton Pioneer Village. Wow – what a sweet surprise! The whole town of Herberton was there on a perfect sunshiny autumn day – all helping to create a fun, festive atmosphere with more to see and do than we could squeeze in during the day. Music, food, ye ‘ole time tradie demonstrations on the mega steam driven sawmill, toy fantasies, smithies beating the steel, loads of history and fun. Above all it was really joyful to see so many folk dedicating their time to preserving this slice of our past for the future. Good on you Herberton and your team of incredible volunteers that keep the Village doors open and create this great place for everyone to share!
